Eastman ETB-830 Large Bore Open Wrap Tenor Trombone. This is a pre-owned, discontinued model that was Eastman’s top-tier tenor trombone approximately 8–10 years ago. It features an 8.5" yellow brass bell, open wrap F-attachment, and a .547 standard weight slide with removable leadpipe. We completed a full shop service here including chemical bath, rotor service, slide optimization, water key pad, and mechanical once-over. It previously had some dent work done, and no dents or dings remain after service—it's now in great playing shape- just a little bit of lacquer wear, but not too bad.
Why do band directors recommend open wrap F-trigger trombones? Open wrap designs provide smoother airflow and reduce resistance when using the trigger, giving students and advancing players better control, cleaner response, and improved tone in the lower range. It’s a more efficient design and typically preferred for advancing musicians making the transition from straight tenors.
This ETB-830 would be an excellent choice for a younger student ready to step up to an open wrap large bore tenor trombone. A great alternative to renting or buying new, especially since modern Eastman step-up models today list in the $2400–2500 range. We’ve packaged this horn with a new S.E. Shires Q Series case with backpack straps—durable and protective—plus a mouthpiece is included. Great value and performance all around. In stock for immediate delivery.
