Yamaha YSL-641 large bore tenor trombone without F attachment, straight tenor SN 011054. Has an 8.5" rose brass bell and a .547 bore nickel silver slide. Takes a large shank mouthpiece (not included). This model is unique to Yamaha—very few other trombone makers have used this exact combination of rose brass and nickel silver, which results in a dark, rich tone with great projection.
We’re often asked whether it’s okay to use a large bore .547 tenor for jazz playing. The short answer is: absolutely—if the player has the chops for it, the YSL-641 will more than deliver. The rose brass bell gives the horn a warm and pleasing timbre, while the nickel silver outer slide provides smooth action and durability.
This particular instrument is dent free and the handslide is excellent, with superior alignment and no resistance. It’s been fully inspected and play-tested in our shop and passes with flying colors. The original Yamaha case is included and is in excellent condition—clean inside and out with no major wear.
