Conn 48H Connstellation Model SN 730353, .500 Bore Vintage 1958 Super Mint. Without question of the dozens of 48H's that we have had here over the years this is the nicest one yet. Is in practically perfect condition. No dents or dings, gorgeous original lacquer on both bell and slide. No inner or outer slide defects, no plating loss. Pefectly straight tubes. Is an excellent slide. Is pro player ready. Has 8" Unsoldered rim Nickel Plated bell. Handslide is gold brass similar to the 6H slide, but different bracing, curved corners for comfort. This model plays slightly darker than a yellow brass 6H, because under the plating is a brass bell with high copper content. Conn was very good at producing unique instruments like this back in the day. They were genuine innovators, not copy cat instrument makers. A horn like this truly is an investment, because over time it will increase in value. But the real reason to want a beautiful 48H is that they play amazing- perfect for Jazz, Commercial Style Ensembles, any type of gig were you would want to use a small bore. Is a jazz improvisors dream horn. Has original case, but is not in perfect condition. One of the latches is broken, and the bell end of the case is coming apart slightly. It is still usable, but just not perfect. Overall an outstanding vintage player and collectible. Will not disappoint.
