Holton TR183 Bass Trombone, George Roberts Model SN 984121. I once read an interview with George Roberts about why he only played a single valve bass, and why he didn't go to a two valve instrument. His reply was that he was always able to get along just fine with one valve. Frank Sinatra sure didn't mind. George was one of the most famous commercial style bass trombonists of all time. This Holton bass has a 9" Gold brass bell, .562 single bore nickel silver slide, single valve rotor. Is all original parts and lacquer. No dents or major damage on bell section, super straight horn. Has a very good slide, despite a few small dings on the yellow brass end crook. Older Holton's were notorious for inner slide tube defects, but not this one. All plating is intact. Tubes are straight and it plays proper. Original Case included.
