King 3BF Silversonic – 100th Anniversary Model, 1990s

This King 3BF Silversonic is a 100th Anniversary model from the 1990s, featuring the classic Sterling silver bell with gold wash and an exceptionally fast handslide—one of the best-playing 3B slides we've come across. The slide is flawless, smooth, and quick, with excellent alignment and no resistance.

There are no dents or dings on the horn. The only cosmetic issue is some minor acid bleed on the bell rim near the 1:00 position, typical of silver bells from this era. Otherwise, the horn is clean and well preserved. It was a single-owner instrument, previously used in rock bands and commercial ensembles by a professional player who took great care of it.

This model includes its original King case in excellent condition, as well as original paperwork and a Bach Corp 12C mouthpiece—still sealed in its plastic wrap. The setup makes it ideal for jazz, commercial, or lead players looking for the iconic King feel with the added depth and projection of the Silversonic bell and F-attachment.

Today, a new 3B Sterling bell model without an F-attachment lists for over $4,000—if you can even find one. It appears that King no longer offers the 3BF Silversonic as a standard model; it may now be available only through special order.

While this instrument has been sold and now resides in our Archive of Sold Instruments, it stands as a reference point for players and collectors researching vintage 3BF Silversonic trombones.
