Conn 71H Bass Trombone, Vintage Elkhart Era, made in 1970, "N" Series S/N. This is a rare single valve Conn bass which is all original parts/lacquer. Has lightweight 9.5" yellow brass bell, undersoldered rim. Standard rotor with semi open wrap. Traditional Conn Hand slide with gold brass in the outer tubes, nickel silver end crook, original lead pipe. Inner slide tubes are 100%, no wear. In fact the tubes are very true and straight, no tension, superior alignment. It is about as good as a vintage slide gets. The best part about this horn is its quick and lively response. It plays with vibrance and color throughout all dynamics. Trigger notes, especially, D, Db, C are very rich an play with low resistance. Overall the horn is lightweight. In fact, it doesn't even feel like a bass, it's not much more weighty than an 88H. Speaking of 88H's, any tenor player that plays on an 88H now and is considering a single valve bass, you will take to this 71H instantly, it plays very similar. Would also make a great single bass for a High School owned instrument. Band Directors please call for direct assistance with procurement. The whole instrument has had a shop once over. No room to improve playability. Minor lacquer wear spots on bell and hand slide. This horn has been played on quite a bit already, but has many years of useful life left in it. Case not included.
