Conn 70H Bass Trombone, Made in Elkhart, Indiana, vintage, 1924 serial number 212701. Some call this model a "Fuchs” while others say that it is virtually identical to the "Fuchs". Whether you call this horn a Fuchs or not, it has exactly the same bell and is made of the same alloy - the only difference that this horn has interchangeable slides for the valve section rather than a pull slide. The inner and outer slides where replaced at the Conn factory in 1959. Has original leadpipe in, which is removable, unsoldered. The bell section to hand slide connection is "friction fit". Owner used this instrument as his daily driver in a high level symphony for 30+ years. Has 9.5" Bell, (Slightly under 9.5"- closer to 9.25") Unsoldered rim, bell stem is all one piece, no bell tuning slide, like the more modern 62H. Overall the instrument plays very dark, yet resonate and responsive. It's the type of horn that you just don't want to put down after playing for a few minutes. Would be an excellent pro-level single bass for any player, and is also seriously collectible. Non-original vintage bass case included.
