First of all, this horn is not a light weight, and it's not for light weight players either. You feel in your hands and arm when you hold it. It is substantial. I believe the extra weight (threaded collar) and standard weight slide, translates into more energy out front. Screaming high register and super open low range. Just listen to some of Marshall's recordings and you will understand immediately. Has a lot of center and core. This horn can take all that you have to give it without backing up or breaking up in sound. It's like the intersection of Large Bore Tenor and Small Bore Jazz all in one. Big bore Shires Players will take to it very quickly. Ideal for all small bore applications- Jazz, Solo, Big Band, Rock, Funk, Trad Jazz, You name it. It covers all styles. The case is Marcus Bonna small bore detachable bell flare, is about the smallest trombone case you can get. A removable exterior pouch with Shires logo zips off easily.
