S.E. Shires Custom Alto Trombone – TBALTSC Yellow Brass
The S.E. Shires Custom Alto Trombone (TBALTSC) is a high-performance instrument built for advanced players seeking a refined alto experience. This model features the A7YLW bell, part of the Shires “Vintage Elkhart”-inspired series, designed to deliver clarity, agility, and tonal depth.
The 7-inch, two-piece hand-hammered yellow brass bell offers a beautiful blend of quick response and tonal core. It’s constructed using traditionally brazed seams and a soldered bead, giving the bell both projection and warmth. The yellow brass contributes to a clear, pure sound with strong fundamental focus, while maintaining consistent tone color across dynamic ranges.
The A85-95 handslide is a dual bore (.485/.495") design in standard-weight yellow brass with a tuning-in-slide mechanism. It features a nickel-silver crook and provides excellent balance and flexibility throughout the alto register. Included are three interchangeable yellow-brass leadpipes, allowing the player to tailor resistance and response to their playing style or setting.
The bell is engraved with the S.E. Shires maker’s mark and traditional floral pattern, giving it a classic appearance that matches its professional pedigree. A case and mouthpiece are included.
This model is available in yellow brass as shown, or custom options such as gold brass can be ordered directly through The Brass Exchange. Additional bell types are available upon request to suit your preferences.
