Olds Bass Trombone Model S-24G, In-line Independent. Second valve G/D. Both valves in D plays in first position. This is very similar in playability to the George Roberts Model but with second valve. Has 9.5" Rose Brass Bell, Nickel Silver Slide, Light weight, Super Smooth, no chrome wear on inners. Has been "set-up" and plays fantastic. The trombone world was always critical of this model because the valve action wasn't comfortable for the player. The ergonomics were off, grip and balance were difficult. We have re-designed the first valve with modern linkage and lever system with that similar on Edwards & Shires with a bullet brace and wooden thumb bar. Now it is very comfortable to hold. The valve are easy to pull, quiet and fast- release evenly when pulled together. Overall the horn plays fantastic. Would be great for all around bass trombone use, orchestra, band, big band, chamber, solo. Has standard straight bore .562 slide. We tested multiple mouthpieces, including standard bass Bach Shanks- fit perfectly, solid core sound, and pitch is no problem. This Bass would be great for a Doubler, or advancing student looking for a solid playing/sounding horn, but not ready to invest 5K+ in a new one today. Play Pro Vintage & Save!
