Marco Magi NN-TRK Trombone Case

This case is built for straight tenor and F-attachment trombones with bell sizes up to 8.5". It works with nearly all bore sizes: .547, .525, .500, and smaller jazz sizes. Whether you’re playing a small bore jazz horn or a large bore orchestral model, you’re probably covered.  Overall the case has versatility and can be used on multiple sizes tenor trombones both F attachment models and also smaller straight jazz tenors.

We’ve tested and confirmed fit with a wide range of horns — Conn 6H, Courtois AC440-ST, King 3B and 2B, Bach 16, King 4B, Bach 36 and 42 series (including BO and C models), Conn 88H and 88HO, Shires Q and custom horns (all valve types, including axial), plus models from Edwards, Getzen, and Yamaha Xeno. Honestly, we haven’t yet found a large bore tenor that doesn’t fit properly. If you’re unsure, just reach out — we’re happy to help confirm compatibility.

The outer shell features Marco Magi’s signature NN Series black panels — a rugged synthetic material also used for motorcycle seats. It’s incredibly durable, protective, and scuff-resistant. Top and bottom panels are burgundy leather with a soft grain that’s almost suede-like. The result? A unique and beautiful two-tone look that’s exclusive to The Brass Exchange.

Inside, you’ll find a dark red, plush long-loop velvet interior — soft and cleanable, and yes, pets might try to claim it. Unlike that open-cell black foam many cases use (which attracts everything), this lining resists dust and is easy to vacuum or wipe down.

The case shell is made of lightweight polyurethane, offering excellent protection without added bulk. There are no zippers — just three sleek nickel silver-plated latches. Two carrying handles make transport easy, and deluxe padded backpack straps are included. It weighs around 7 lbs — about the same as a leather Cronkhite gig bag — but with more structure and protection.

The interior is simple and intuitive. No moving blocks or foam pads to fuss with. Just place your horn inside, close the lid, and the padded top and bottom press gently against the bell stem and neck to keep everything secure. Like our other NN Series cases, it has a hinged lower lid compartment — great for carrying essentials like LED stand lights, mouthpieces, oils, tools, a plunger mute, glasses, and your phone.

Outside dimensions: 34" long, 6" wide body, 10" wide at the bell. Yes — this fits in overhead compartments on planes.

The removable backpack straps are built tough, with real padding around the shoulders and steel hardware that won’t snap. If you prefer not to use straps, the main handle is comfortable and smooth — won’t dig into your hand, even on long walks.

When we designed this case, we focused on making something attractive, durable, lightweight, and protective — and it had to be functional. It’s not meant for hauling tons of gear — no music folders, no trombone stands strapped to the outside. Just a sleek, reliable case that looks sharp and keeps your horn safe.

Customers have loved it. It’s rare — only a limited number of this exact model have been made by Marco Magi. Don’t be surprised if you're the only player at the gig with one like it. I recently took mine to a wedding band gig downtown. I slung it over one shoulder and carried my mutes and stand separately. Walked a few blocks — no problem at all.
