King 3B Silversonic – H.N. White Era, Vintage 1965–1970
Vintage Archive Trombone – Sold
This King 3B Silversonic dates from the late H.N. White era, most likely between 1965 and 1970. It’s a classic vintage jazz trombone—freshly serviced and ready to play. The handslide has been professionally set up, and the horn has undergone a full chemical bath and internal cleaning. Gold plating inside the bell has been carefully touched up and looks fantastic alongside the sterling silver bell.
Are vintage King 3B trombones like this one still favored by professional players today?
Yes. The vintage King 3B—especially Silversonic models from the H.N. White era—remain highly sought after by professionals, educators, and serious players. Known for their light, responsive slide feel and brilliant tone, these instruments have stood the test of time. While modern replicas are available, many players agree: nothing compares to the sound, balance, and craftsmanship of an original 3B from the 1960s.
The lacquer is completely original and shows only minimal grip wear on the handslide. This horn hasn’t seen much playing time—it was used briefly during the original owner’s college years and then stored away, closet-kept for decades. There are no dents or dings, and overall the condition is excellent.
Among the multiple King 3B models currently in our archive, this is the top example—outstanding in both playability and appearance. It includes the original King black-and-silver coffin case, which is in excellent condition with working latches and a clean interior. This is a true single-owner horn, purchased new in the 1960s and preserved with care ever since.
If you’re searching for the authentic sound and feel of a genuine H.N. White-era Silversonic, this is the real thing—not a replica, but a living piece of jazz history.
