King 3B Concert Trombone, 1963 H.N. White Era – Supreme Mint Condition

This King 3B Concert Trombone was built in 1963 by the H.N. White Company in Cleveland, Ohio, and remains one of the finest examples of a vintage 3B we’ve had at The Brass Exchange. Though it has long since sold and now resides in our Archive of Sold Instruments, it stood out at the time for its exceptional condition and craftsmanship.

The horn was paired with a rare burgundy-colored alligator leather coffin case, adding a unique historical touch. Before it left our shop, it underwent a complete professional service, including a chemical cleaning and handslide setup. It played just as well as it looked—responsive, balanced, and flexible in tone. As expected from a true King 3B, the horn was ideal for lead and section playing in both classical and jazz settings.

We described it then as the best King 3B to ever come through our doors, and that statement still holds true in our records. It was collector-grade, but also ready for daily use by a serious player. Instruments like this remind us how much condition, originality, and build quality matter when evaluating or selling a vintage trombone.

If you’re wondering about the value of your used brass instrument or thinking of selling a trombone, we’re here to help. From evaluation to resale, we’ve worked with collectors and players across all levels and styles.
