King 2B Liberty – Late 1930s Vintage, H.N. White Era – Silver Plated, All Original
Vintage Archive Trombone – Sold
You could call this one pre-war—but more importantly, this is the model preferred by the majority of lead players during the Big Band era. It’s the same model Tommy Dorsey played. Here we have an all-original example that has not been overhauled. Silver plating is intact throughout with no dents or dings, and every part is original.
The handslide tubes—inners and outers—are 100%. Matching serial numbers are stamped on the handslide cork barrel, outer slide, neckpipe receiver, and tuning slide. It’s truly impressive that H.N. White took the time to serialize all of these components with this level of precision.
This instrument has never been damaged—just played and loved for decades. It recently received full shop service including a chemical bath and is in top playing condition. The slide feels fantastic, and it plays incredibly easy.
This would be a phenomenal lead horn for any modern jazz or commercial player. If you’re chasing the silky smooth sound of Dorsey, or simply want the unmatched response of a true vintage King, this one delivers. The King trombones made today are just replicas of classics like this.
Play Vintage. Sound Amazing.
