HOLTON

Holton Revelation Trombone Vintage 1924 SN 72469, LP low pitch model.  Is all original parts, lacquer, plating, mouthpiece, and case.  Ha 6.5" bell and is small bore. Brass bell with glass bead silver plating and gold wash inner bell, all original.  The inner slide is also original, nickel silver tubes with copper plated stockings.  You don't have to worry about chrome plating loss on this slide because they were not using yet on these early models. Is the type of trombone that you may have played if you were in the John Philip Sousa band, which toured from 1892-1931.  Frank Holton was on the Sousa Band Roster in 1892 as a trombonist, a well known professional player, who went on later to start his own instrument factory which began in 1896.  An interesting note is that one of the first products Holton was to invent was his own formula of trombone slide oil. This instrument has an original bottle of it still in tact, but it does sort of smell when you open the bottle.  I would not use the oil.   Is like an museum piece, yet the trombone plays just like it should.  Personally, I would love to hear someone play some Arthur Pryor solos with it.  Is a piece of American Brass Instrument History.
