Conn 8H from the early 1950's Elkhart era. This is a very special horn and plays fantastic. It is from the same collection of the 2 78H's listed on our website currently. Has been freshly cleaned and serviced. All of the parts and lacquer are original. Has not been damaged or repaired previously that we can tell. Has the classic 8H rose brass 8.5" flare. Tuning slide has a brace guard as does the hand slide end crook. This model was made without a slide lock, and has springs in first position. Half moon engraving on bell section and old style 2-piece gold lacquer counter weight. The neckpipe and outer slide around the grip area have imprints from a previous vinyl protective wrap. We feel that when old horns play great as is, there it can be sort of risky to overhaul them for cosmetic reasons only. This one plays fantastic and has a magical tone quality. Handslide is very smooth despsite some inner wear. We reccomend leaving it alone. With proper care and slide prep, this is a fantastic vintage 8H. Has the original case, in need of repair, yet still functional. Mouthpiece not included.
