Conn 78H, Vintage 1963, made in Elkhart, IN. Has 8" yellow brass bell, standard weight .522 handslide. Conn's class medium bore- alternative to the Bach 36. Ideal choice for Large Bore Tenor Player in need of something just a little smaller, but not wanting to sacrifice sound quality on a smaller instrument. Would work great for lead parts on "pops" style orchestra parts. Ideal choice for an 88H guy looking for just a little more compact and work less on long gigs. Has been freshly cleaned and serviced, minor dings removed from bell section and tuning slide. Original lacquer in good condition, has aged well. While the handslide shows some plating loss on inner stockings, it is in fact still a very good slide because the tubes are very straight and have superior alignment. This slide works very well with Yamaha slide lubricant. It does fall freely easily with gravity and does not create any issues with playability- and we are very picky about slides. Would make a tremendous medium bore jazz horn. It plays very open and "loose" - not tight in slotting like modern horns, which lends towards a jazz improviser. Has classic Conn unsoldered rim, lots of vibrance and color. Will play very "dark", but also open up when pushed hard, as one would expect. Takes standard small shank mouthpiece. Original case included.
