Conn 71H Single Trigger Bass. This is a rare single valve Conn bass which is all original parts/lacquer. Has lighweight 9.5" yellow brass bell, unsoldered rim. Standard rotor with semi open wrap. Traditional Conn Handslide with yellow brass in the outer tubes, nickel silver endcrook, original leadpipe. Inner slide tubes are 100%, no wear. In fact the tubes are very true and straight, no tension, superior alignment. It is about as good as a vintage slide gets. Actually better, it's fantastic. The best part about this horn is its quick and lively response. It plays with vibrance and color throughout all dynamics. Trigger notes, especially, D, Db, C are very rich an play with low resistance. I tested this out and couldn't put it down. Low C at FFF roars like a lion. Overall the horn is lightweight. In fact, it doesn't even feel like a bass, it's not much more weighty than an 88H. Speaking of 88H's, any tenor player that plays on an 88H now and is considering a single valve bass, you will take to this 71H instantly, it plays very similar. Original springs in first position. Any bass trombone mouthpiece will work on this model, however, I found that it dialed in very nicely with the reccomended Remington Taper Mouthpiece, which is a slightly longer shank, and not as much taper as the Morse taper. These mouthpieces are still available. Our friends at Schilke make them, as do Bach. We don't have an extra one, or would include it for sure. The orignal case is also in excellent condition.
