Besson Compensating Euphonium Mid 1970's Satin Silver Finish. Made in England S/N 589,XXX. This is an early compensating Euphonium by Besson, which has the 11" Bell, takes large shank trombone mouthpiece, standard shank. It's a great playing Euph. We all know that high end Euphoniums today are in the 8K range. Even Yamaha Compensators start at 6K and go up to $8700. This Besson is the classic model which todays compensating models are based upon. This one is very clean. Despite some wear on two of the piston valves, the action is still smooth and fast. Our very talented technician checked it over and said to leave it as is becasue it plays just fine. The valves could be replated later if desired, any talented repair tech will know what to do. We feel it's not needed at this time. We had another one of these, see archive section of this website, last year. It sold close to 4K. This one is not as perfect as that, which is reflected in the price. This horn comes with a very nice gig bag.
