Bach Model 16LT Tenor Trombone – Early 1980s vintage, now residing in the Archive of Sold Instruments at The Brass Exchange.
This classic 16LT featured a standard yellow brass bell paired with a lightweight nickel silver handslide in dual bore .495"/.509". Ideal for small bore applications, it offered excellent versatility for lead, jazz, commercial, or general small ensemble work. At the time of sale, it was in superb playing condition with no signs of previous damage or repair.
Professionally serviced in our shop, it received a full slide setup resulting in smooth, fast action—critical for precision and comfort during performance. The bell section was clean, with great lacquer preservation and no dents or defects. All tuning slides moved freely, and the horn sealed perfectly. The lightweight slide added agility and clarity in fast passages, while still offering the characteristic Bach warmth and color.
Playability on this 16LT was outstanding—balanced response, focused tone, and excellent slotting throughout the full dynamic range. It was the kind of horn that feels immediately “right” in the hands of advancing students and seasoned pros alike.
The original Bach case was included and remained in good, usable condition. At the time of this listing, a new Bach 16LT sells for over $3800, making this instrument an exceptional value when it was available.
Though this Bach 16LT has been sold, we maintain this listing in our archive as a reference for collectors and players interested in the legacy and quality of vintage Bach trombones.
