Bach 36G Trombone – Medium Bore .525 with Gold Brass Bell and LT Nickel Silver Slide (c. 1978–79)

This is a beautifully matched Bach 36G trombone with a lightweight nickel silver slide, built around 1978–79 according to Bach trombone serial numbers. It includes a non-original but excellent French style Bach Stradivarius case.

This 36G is a great example of a medium bore (.525) brass musical instrument that has been cleaned, serviced, and improved for optimal playability. The slide performs well, with some minor signs of inner wear that don’t affect performance. A counterweight balancer is included for comfort and improved balance while playing.

The bell section is unlacquered gold brass, super clean, and shows no signs of prior damage or repair. As players know, gold brass bells play and sound a little darker than yellow brass, offering a warmer tone with slightly more depth—especially when paired with a lightweight nickel silver slide like this one. It’s a combo that works exceptionally well for players looking for a more colorful response.

This used instrument would make a fantastic choice for commercial-style playing, big band lead, or even as a medium bore jazz horn. A versatile and expressive trombone that plays as well as it looks.
