Bach 36B Tenor Trombone – Early 1990s Utility Model, now archived at The Brass Exchange.
This Bach 36B is a solid choice for players seeking a medium-large bore (.525) horn with classic Bach sound and playability at a value price. Built in the early 1990s, this example features an 8" yellow brass bell, a traditional rotor valve section (not open wrap), and a regular weight slide. All components are original, including the lacquer, tuning slides, valve, and handslide.
This instrument has been fully cleaned and serviced in our shop. The slide was realigned for improved action and now performs reliably. While the horn has a rugged, gig-tested appearance—with visible lacquer wear, surface blemishes, and a few battle scars—it remains structurally sound and responsive where it counts: on the stand.
Is a used Bach 36 still worth buying today? For many players, the answer is yes—especially when playability outweighs cosmetic considerations. The 36B offers a great balance between tonal depth and agility, making it an excellent option for advancing students, marching band section leaders, pit orchestra work, or any setting where consistent performance matters more than showroom looks.
This 36B played solidly in all registers with a stable tone core, quick articulation, and enough flexibility to adapt to multiple styles. It’s the kind of horn that may not win a beauty contest, but will hold its own in a rehearsal room or performance setting.
Includes a rugged but functional original Bach case. This listing is no longer available but remains in our archive as a reference for players looking for durable, professionally serviced used Bach trombones.
