Bach 36B Medium Bore Tenor Trombone, Corporation Era – SN 40328
Single-owner Bach 36B in remarkable condition, made during the sought-after Corporation Era. This horn arrived clean, with no major defects or issues affecting playability. It’s been closet kept for decades, only played for a few years in high school — which dates back to the early 1980s. The bell has never been damaged or creased, and all parts and lacquer are 100% original.
Why are Bach Corporation Era trombones regarded as the finest vintage? For many players, it’s the craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the feel that modern replicas just can’t quite match — and this 36B is a perfect example. They have become collectible over the years. But, the best part is that they play amazing.
The handslide is exceptionally fast — one of the best 36 slides we’ve had here in years. It was a pleasant surprise to unbox and play test; even my wife came out to listen, which never happens. The slide is very straight, with excellent lacquer and no inner slide plating loss. There's a small ding on the tuning slide crook — a common issue with yellow brass, which is softer than nickel silver. Most trombone players know how easy it is to bump a music stand leg by accident. While we usually remove minor imperfections like this before delivery, this one doesn’t need it — and I’d personally leave it as-is. Of course, we’d be happy to clean it up upon request.
This is a great horn at a fair price, especially considering the low prior use, vintage appeal, and how well it compares to modern-day 36B replicas that retail north of $4,000. Comes with the original case, featuring a unique interior layout we haven’t seen before. A rare total package that’s in stock and available for immediate delivery.
