The Bach 16M LT, from the early 1980s, is the classic Bill Watrous model, a trombone that has influenced nearly every trombonist today. Bill Watrous was passionate about this model, and it remains a favorite for players who admire his unique sound. This trombone is similar in size to a King 3B, with a slightly smaller diameter in the bell flare but a .508 bore. The handslide is much lighter than a King, making it easier to maneuver, with great response and agility. This trombone is known for its warmth and color, making it an excellent choice for jazz solos or lead parts in a big band. It’s an ideal instrument for players who use a Bach 42B but are looking for something better suited for jazz or commercial style music. In overall excellent condition, the instrument retains its original parts and lacquer, and has never been damaged or required any repairs. The trombone includes its original case and a mouthpiece.

The Bach 16M LT currently sells new for around $3800 in 2025, but today’s Bach 16s are essentially replicas of this exact model. The instrument featured here is no longer available, as it now resides in The Brass Exchange Archive of Sold Instruments.
