Antoine Courtois Valve Trombone Paris Make Professional Model SN 2326. Made in France, this is a standard Bb piston valve trombone built to professional specifications. The first partial is low Bb, just like a tenor slide trombone, and all the partials stack up the same—Bb, F, Bb, D, F, Bb—so the feel and pitch layout are familiar for trombone players. Valve fingerings are identical to a Baritone or Euphonium, which are the same as a Bb trumpet, just one octave lower.
This pro model features an 8.5" bell flare with a medium-large bore, and it actually plays bigger and broader than most valve trombones we’ve seen here. It still takes a standard small shank mouthpiece—something like a Bach 6.5 works perfectly. Also includes a third valve slide for pitch correction, just like what you find on high-end trumpets.
What is the best playing valve trombone? That’s always up for debate, but this Courtois makes a strong case. The horn is in excellent playing condition, with no damage, dents, or past repairs. The silver plating shows minor tarnish (as expected on older silver horns) but overall, it’s clean and presentable.
If you're a serious valve player looking for something with more presence and a bigger sound—or a Baritone or Euphonium player looking to blend with a jazz band trombone section—this could be the ideal match. Would also be an outstanding choice for a jazz improviser wanting projection and clarity from a valve horn.
Includes a non-original black nylon soft case that’s lightweight and protective. Mouthpiece not included. In stock for immediate delivery.
